Stephen A. McShane


Mr. McShane is a senior operational executive with over 23 years of leadership experience. He has operational experience in for-profit, not-for-profit, hospital based, faith based and county nursing facility settings. Stephen has served as Vice President of Operations overseeing 9 CCRC’s throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland for a non-profit, faith based organization. He has graduated a number
of CMS special focus facilities, and stabilized operations. Stephen played an instrumental role at the state level in several capacities. He has international involvement in skilled nursing liability insurance RRG formation, and representation of long term care industry before the legislature of Pennsylvania.


Mr. McShane has served the healthcare industry for over 23 years. His client customers have appreciated leadership development, operational performance improvement, system analysis and development, along with achieving regulatory compliance and favorable fiscal outcomes. Examples
of his leadership experience include:

  • Operations – Responsible for operations and performance oversight including Business Office Operations, Clinical Operations, Clinical Reimbursement, Business Development Operations, Risk Management Operations and operational leadership in each site location.
  • Receivership Services – Receiver project management; On-site leadership overseeing regulatory compliance, facility management and reporting, ensuring asset viability.
  • Turn Around Management – Served as a catalyst for leadership and growth in an ailing hospital based unit with an average census of 25%. Upon assessing the environment and developing an action plan, the facility’s census achieved and sustained a manageable level of 85% in 45 days, thus exponentially increasing revenues. Efficiencies and systems development were initiated, lending to the operational performance and outcomes for the facility’s client base.
  • Strategic Initiatives – Played a key role in diversifying business and positioning company for expanded revenues through top of the mind awareness, member service line development, initiating plant operations service line contract, and Interim Administrator service line growth.
  • International Projects – Invited to London to represent PELICAN and the County Nursing Facilities of Pennsylvania in order to meet with the Captive Insurance representatives from Lloyds of London. Established new underwriting criteria and additional re-insurers, ultimately decreasing the cost of liability insurance to facility members, and eliminating increases in premiums for over two years.
